From Central India to the Globe

It all began in the 1920s when our great-grandfather moved from Rajasthan to Indore, Central India, well before India gained independence in search for better livelihood opportunity. He began as a small trader, bought beans, wheat, and jaggery from local farmers and marketplace to sell to nearby households. Over the years he started making dal manually using a hand operated stone mill grinder (chakki) and passed on the knowledge to his sons Ramniwas and Ramgopal.

In 1960, Ramniwas Agrawal, along with his brother, opened our first small unit "M/s Ramsahaya Pannalal" in the confines of our home and started milling pulses as source of additional income alongside his job as an accountant. In 1979, he upgraded the small mill in his house along with his eldest son, Jagdishchandra Agrawal, for better quality production to supply to other shops and factories outside Indore.

This business set-up soon started getting customer recognition by delivering quality products and building relationships. In 1996, Jagdishchandra, along with his brothers Rajesh and Manoj, laid the foundation for the growth and expansion of the business by setting up our first medium-scale factory for manufacturing pulses under the name "Ramniwas Jagdishchandra."

Over the next 20 years, the business grew steadily adapted to the changing times. We opened our second factory in 2006 for milling unhusked pulses and established the firm “R J Pulses”. In 2015, we added a second plant in our first factory and upgraded our existing machinery, doubling our production capacity to progressively increase both our clients and workforce. In 2018 we started our journey as an exporter of pulses and wheat products to the Middle East, Asia Pacific, and Europe.

In 2023, we established our fourth and fully automated manufacturing and packaging plant under the name “R. J. Agro Industries” and have a total production capacity exceeding 200 MT per day allowing us to cater to a larger community of wholesalers, supermarkets, retailers as well as restaurants, hotels and production facilities across the globe.

Today, our organization remains rooted in humility, service, and empathy towards all stakeholders as we move toward sustainability, global growth, inclusivity, and success.

Now in its fifth generation, the family business has remained true to its fundamental principle: "Always be fair to your buyers, sellers, and your employees." This principle has paid off and has led to the development of an organization that is appreciated for its high-quality products, and honest, respectful and friendly business relationships. After more than 60 years now in the business, we know the market and we know how to serve it.
